Exploring Blogs

We are learning to create a positive digital footprint.

We often share personal information when we are online. The people we share with could be our friends and family or people we don't know. We need to make smart decisions about what personal information we share online.

Spencer Park

W.A.L.T Write an information report that informs the audience.

Success Criteria
I know I will be successful when….
  • I use an opening statement that explains the subject of the report.
  • The opening statement is followed by sentences that describe the event; what you saw, what you did, how you felt, what you learnt.
  • Each paragraph focuses on a different aspect of the topic; travelling, the beach, the lagoon walk, playground.
  • A general statement about the topic usually rounds off the report.

Spencer park

Last week (on Friday) Ako Ngatahi travelled to Spencer Park to have a learning and fun day. We were put in groups before going to Spencer Park. I was in group 4 M.

On the bus I sat with Aroha and Kea. On the bus Aroha,
Kea and I laughed, talked, and told some jokes. Aroha showed Kea. On the bus when I was looking out, Kea and Aroha made a prank on me, Aroha said if I sleep Kea will draw a figure on my cheek. When I slept a bit, they drew a mini figure on my cheek. But it was really Aroha.

When we finally reached Spencer Park we went to our groups. Our group and one other group went to the playground for 10 minutes.  Anahera and Merryn were in my group. Most of the playground was filled with South Hornby school kids.

After 10 minutes it was our turn to go to the beach. We went a shorter way to go to the beach. When we reached at the beach we didn’t see lots of shells we all had to look under logs and same of us had grabbed sticks and started grinding with the sticks.

The teachers for our group, Whea Heather and Mrs Scott chose a spot to put our bags down. We opened our plastic bags from our bag and wrote our name. After the teachers told us the instructions we set out to find a driftwood and 10 other sea treasures. When I set out to find the sea treasures I found 15 sea shells and a driftwood. While looking for some sea treasures some of the people found a Blue Bottle Jellyfish. We learnt not to touch the Blue Bottle Jellyfish because it can sting you. After looking at the sea treasures we had Morning Tea. Some people

My new friend

In the past weeks our class (Ako Ngatahi) were writing a short story about a video titled “The Present”. It was a story about a boy who got a present and it was a puppy. After he discovered that the puppy only had three legs.

Here is the video, I think that you might enjoy the video and maybe my writing.

W.A.L.T: Write a narrative

Success Criteria
I know I will be successful when….
  • The title is suitable for the text.
  • The orientation tells who the story is about, and when and where the story happened.
  • The complication describes a problem and explains what happened next.
  • The resolution explains how the problem was solved.

My new friend

One morning I was playing on my xbox then my mum come home with a present.
I opened it it was a puppy I look at it’s leg. I threw the puppy on the floor because it had one of his leg missing. Because he was distracting me by my game But I kept playing my game.
Then he found a  red ball under the desk. He bump into the desk and then got the ball. He brought it to me then I kicked it into the box. He ran straight to the box . He was stuck under the box. He eventually got out then he saw the ball and he chased after it. He brought it back to me. Then I relax and stopped being useless. So I got up and went outside with him.
I knew what he felt like because he was missing a leg too and he had the same struggles as me. I think we will be best friends because he knows how I feel.
